PortCities  Find out how the sleepy fishing village of Hartlepool and an area of unused land which became West Hartlepool, developed into a major industrial area. In the space of just a few decades, enterprising people followed the money to the two towns and made their own fortunes.
Reaching the Regions  Reaching the Regions is a programme launched during autumn 2002 within the British Library's Co-operation and Partnership Programme. Its aim is to increase the relevance of the BL and its collections to a wider public by improving services to users in the new political regions. We plan to do this by working with local partners, through the new Museums, Libraries and Archives Councils.
Sense of Place North East (SOPNE)  This site is a gateway to images and sounds that give an insight into what makes the North East special. It is a portal to learning resources about the people, culture, history, landscape, and nature of the North East.

Side Photographic Gallery  Lives & landscapes of Northern England, classics of documentary, historical northern documentary and contemporary explorations of the wider world: a documentary photography archive was started when Amber film & photography collective came to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1969.
